ICT
Information Communication Technology is a key element of the curriculum at Hartwell. We take the approach of integrating technologies into the curriculum, both to support student learning and to develop key digital skills.
We are fortunate that we are very well resourced across the school, so that all students have access to a range of devices and tools. Each Learning Community has access to both ipads and laptop computers to support their learning. Every classroom has an Interactive Whiteboard which is a fabulous tool for teachers to present and share student learning.
The ICT curriculum across the school is developmental and students at different year levels are given exposure to the use of a range of digital tools. This is provided by classroom teachers and in Science and Specialist Lessons. Some examples of these include:
- Coding- students are given the opportunity to work Spheros. Students are introduced in how to use coding to control these devices. Students also use a range of Coding apps to strengthen their skills.
- 3D Printing- Students have access to the use of 3D printers in Science and Art Specialist lessons. They are taught the use of a program to design their creations.
- Drones- we use drones in a range of subject areas such as Maths and also when students are creating media.
E-Smart
As an accredited E-Smart school we are committed to supporting our students to be safe and responsible digital citizens. At each year level, age appropriate cyber-safety is taught and is also promoted across the school. Our Year 6 students all complete the E-Smart Digital Licence.
